FOOD & DRINK
We serve a daily changing menu informed by classic French technique, incorporating the foods of our Southern region. We love the ever-changing basket that each harvest allows, from the first springtime shad roe to the blue-green live and kickin’ soft shell crabs that arrive a few weeks later. Summer’s shell beans, tomatoes, okra and watermelon bring a smile. The cooler weather game of venison and quail, root vegetables and greens creates sustenance. Our dishes are prepared with respect and restraint to allow each ingredient’s inherent goodness to shine through.

WINE
With over 300 labels on our list, we have taken great care to present to you what we believe are the very best wines from around the world. You’ll find California and Provence, Oregon and Austria, Barolo and Burgundy, Campania and Mendoza. Each wine is chosen for its inherent uniqueness, personality and value.

We have had the pleasure of sharing our table with some of the world’s great winemakers/proprietors by hosting wine dinners several times a year. Bruce Neyers, Josh Jensen, Randall Grahm, Bernard Raveneau, Daniel Brunier, Ted Lemon, Jasmine Hirsch, Richard Ward, Joe Davis and Alan Viader, are among a few who have made the trek to Birmingham to share not only their special wines but unique stories and experiences.

Jim Clendenen, one of California’s most renowned winemakers, works with us to produce our house wines—an elegant Pinot Noir, a refined Chardonnay and an exuberant Barbera (the Southside Red). Along with our other offerings by the glass, trust us to find the best examples of everything from Albariño to Falanghina to Dolcetto and Sonoma Pinots.

BAR
The Alabama marble bar at Highlands is a gathering place for visitors and locals alike. The lively energy created by shakers shaking (we believe we have the quintessential martini!) and oysters being shucked is likely to entice you to stay for another round. So much to choose from—classic cocktails, made with fresh squeezed juices and homemade tinctures; a strong selection of beers; a superbly chosen variety of wines by the glass—stop in for a drink and seafood platter after work, stay for dinner (we serve our full menu at the bar) or have an apéritif before your reservation in the dining room. The setting is ideal for impromptu or less formal occasions.
